An open letter to the 21st century Indian woman.
Being a woman today is tough specially an Indian woman, as has always been. Everyday we survive situations where the world seems to come to a standstill and everything seems to fall apart. Here are some life hacks that’ll help you with a smoother sailing through womanhood.
Put that first. Always. No matter what, build a successful career for yourself, before anything else. Becoming financially independent is one of the greatest blessings for a woman. After all, you surely wouldn’t like to coax your daddy, or your husband for all that expensive designer stuff you fancy. Isn’t it kinda cool…being able to afford a Gucci bag for yourself and even an Armani suit for him? 😉
LOVE HIM BEYOND YOUR EGO, NOT SELF RESPECT
Ego should definitely take a backseat when it comes to a relationship. This three letter word has been the slayer of many a wonderful relationship; if you want a healthy commitment, it’s high time you parted ways with your ego. But self respect is above everything. If you realize that you’re being compelled to compromise with your self respect at many instances, may be you should think twice about continuing the relationship. Trust me, the right man will never let you be disgraced. No matter what.
FREEDOM OF CHOICE
Ladies, never ever go away with something of your choice just because it is not accepted by the society. If it’s a short dress and you like it, wear it, and do not feel guilty about it. Because it’s your body, and you are the one to decide when and how much to cover it. If you prefer living in over marriage, go for it, irrespective of ‘log kya kahenge’. Your life, your decisions. Period.
DON’T WORRY ABOUT LOOKING PRETTY ALL THE TIME
Yes, we do like to dress up and look our best, but that should not become an obsession. Prefer being complimented as beautiful rather than ‘hot’, ‘sexy’ or ‘pretty’. ‘Beautiful not only describes how you look or how you dress, it is more about the broadness of your mindset, your dignity and how you treat others. Be more beautiful than pretty.
BE YOUR OWN SOULMATE
Last but not the least, love yourself. Be honest to yourself. Cherish the good part, and face the bitter truths. Even if you lie to others about something, tell yourself the truth, and accept it even if you’ve done something wrong. Pen down the truth on a piece of paper.; don’t escape the reality. Be your own judge rather than judging others or letting others judge you. If you feel something is wrong, do not do it. And if you feel something is right , go for it even if the world stands against you. Give value to your opinions.
Another confused lady. 🙂
