Deepika Padukone : A Rising Star
Deepika Padukone – This girl is miraculous! She stepped in the Bollywood eight years ago and now she has become the heartthrob of every youngster. She has faced major ups and downs in her career but rather than being knocked down by the criticism, she took them positively and worked upon them.
She played a double role in her debut performance in Om Shanti Om against the King Khan and was awarded the prestigious Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. Generally Shahrukh’s on-screen presence overshadows everyone but this bold girl has not gone unnoticed.
This was her breakthrough in Bollywood and from there she never looked back. She gave some mediocre performances in few films and that was her struggle period. Actually she was being trimmed and polished as a lustrous diamond.
In 2012, Cocktail released and this movie proved to be a turning point in her career. She portrayed the hot-n-happening Veronica and grabbed all the attention of the audiences. From the critics to the masses, everyone was impressed by her exceptionally good performance especially in the drunken scene where happy-go-lucky outspoken Veronica shows her vulnerability.
By then, Deepika was all set to rock into the screen and stole a million hearts again. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela and Happy New Year were huge hits and she was highly applauded for her splendid performances. These films contributed in her star status and made her one of the highly paid Bollywood actress.
In Ram-Leela, Deepika portrayed a Gujrati girl and to everyone’s surprise, she fits in each frame perfectly, she is breath-taking. She improved herself drastically and showed a tremendous energy in this movie which fetched her Filmfare Award for Best Actress.
2015 was completely Deepika’s year. She gave fabulous performances in Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha, Shoojit Sircar’s Piku and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani. While talking about Piku, it’s a slice of life. The movie presents the unwavering love and affection between a father and a daughter. More than love the protagonist believes it is her responsibility to look after her senile father and hold on her own life. Deepika played this role effortlessly and naturally and this is arguably the best role of her career till now. Piku is a movie which makes you realise that your life can be ordinary, but the ties which you share with your loved ones are extraordinary.
Her another great movie this year was Bajirao Mastani which is a masterpiece of its own kind. It is an epic love story which can be compared with Mughal-e-Azam. Deepika is splendid and fascinating as Mastani, she grabs all the eyeballs with her scintillating performance. She fights, rides the horse, dances kathak and lavani, speaks bravely and what not. It would not be exaggeration to say that she has enlivened the character of Mastani on-screen. Her roles in these two movies mark a stark contrast but she has done both of them with utter grace and poise.
This leggy lass has now planned to kick start her career in Hollywood with XXX: The Return of Xander Cage opposite Vin Diesel.
We wish Deepika Padukone a very good luck for her Hollywood career and hope that she makes us proud on an international platform. Kudos to you girl!
