Is Wife, curse or a boon?

Like always, he came back home late, She was still awake to serve him hot food. The next day when he forgot his important file, she ran a mile to give it back to him. She washed his clothes, took care of him as if he was her only one and guess what? In her eyes, he was the only one.

On the other hand, he never appreciated her and always cribbed about how ugly her looks were because of all those scars she had on her face. He didn’t know that she was a fighter and had survived a brutal rape when she was barely nine.

Then one day, he came back at the usual time and found out that the dishes were done, there was food cooked for him and the house looked beautiful but his wife wasn’t siting on the sofa where she usually use to wait. That’s when he realized how special she was and ran into the room to tell her that he loved her and was thankful. But as he entered the room, There she was, hung up on the fan, unconscious or probably dead..

There was a note kept on the bed, which read in bold letters,

‘I LOVED YOU WITH ALL MY MIGHT BUT MAYBE YOU DIDN’T AND I SAW HOW UNHAPPY YOU WERE WITH ME, I’M GOING SO THAT YOU CAN BE HAPPY AGAIN. STAY HAPPY FOREVER, PS. I ALWAYS LOVED YOU AND EVEN WILL DO AFTER I’M DEAD’

The above written story is fictional but how many of us can relate to it ? I bet , many can. We have seen almost every man venting about how their freedom will be taken away once they get married. Nobody ever thinks about what will happen to the freedom of the woman , about how she will have to leave her house, her parents , her relatives behind and live with her husband and think of his family to be hers and take care of it.

We never talk about it , maybe because this patriarchal society thinks that all a woman is born for is to do the household duties , first at her maternal house and then in her husband’s house. She is been entitled to this once she is born , she is expected to work according to this norm and if she doesn’t , she’s considered as a wench.

Why are men given power which they do not even know how to use whereas women are not even given freedom to do simple tasks according to their will. I know a lot of people might come up with arguments that women are given several rights now-a-days. I agree  , but it is not worldwide, there are tons of nations where women are still deprived of basic right to even study.

Now , Let us talk about our own nation which we call “INCREDIBLE INDIA”. Do you think that women throughout india are given the right to chose husbands for themselves ?  In most parts of India , little girls are married when they are not even in their teens , when they are incapable of understanding why their parents are sending them to someone else’s home. Why is the man ( her husband) looking at her in such unnatural way which is of course the lustful eyes which do not care whether it is a little girl. The little girl cries when the man infers his sexual anxiety over her , she thinks that maybe she would have done something wrong for which her parents are punishing her.

Later when she slowly understands that this is her destiny and she has to live with it , she tries to develop love and affection for her husband who has never really loved her or even respected her. She devotes her entire life to this unknown man to whom she was tied in a nuptial knot rather forcefully. But this does not help her in any way and time flows like water in the sea and ultimately a tsunami comes and she is brought to ruin and taken away from the journey of this world to another world where maybe she will be safe , happy and CELEBRATED.

The woman who devotes her entire life to a man , does not in any way gets anything in return but still wishes for the goodwill of her husband there after.  I leave this question to all you men out there to decide for yourself , Is your wife a curse or a boon ?
